Kate Powell, of West Yorkshire – England, started young as an artist. Her family and teachers encouraged her to express her talent using multiple forms of art mediums. Her drawing, I tried to draw my soul but all I could think of was flowers entices you yet shows her self-claimed over-whelming and poisonous self-doubt. This is ultimately why we have chosen to feature her work. Her paintings are committed, passionate and self-driven. Powell has reached the stage where she is changing to darker art and less concerned about it being decorative. She is drawing more to express herself than an effort to be popular. Her artwork has been published in the UK Specialist Crafts catalogue. What do you think is the backbone to Powell’s art?  How does her art reflect your inner feelings?
